Who Should Attend?
Our 6-Week Upholstery Course on Fridays is open to anyone aged 18+ with a passion for furniture restoration and conservation. No prior experience is needed. For beginners, we recommend starting with a smaller project like a footstool or dining chair seat to build foundational skills.
What You Need to Bring:
- Your chosen upholstery project
- Top fabric for reupholstery, if you already have it. (Don’t worry if you don’t have fabric on the first day—we’ll measure and advise you on how much fabric you’ll need.)
- Fabric Selection Tip: Choosing upholstery fabric can be overwhelming with so many colours, patterns, and textures available. It’s worth exploring different options before the class to get a sense of what you like. For guidance, click here to see our fabric selection guide which includes a list of local Nottingham shops and online stores, along with tips on selecting the right fabric for your project.
We provide all essential upholstery tools in our fully equipped workshop. If you need additional materials like foam, webbing, piping, or fire-retardant liners, these are available for purchase during the course.
Important: Send a Photo of Your Project Before Booking
To ensure your project is suitable for the 6-week upholstery course on Fridays, we ask that you send a photo of it before booking and paying. This helps us assess whether it can be completed within the course timeframe, especially if you’re a beginner. Choosing an overly complex project might require additional classes or courses.
How to Submit Your Project: Simply send a quick photo via WhatsApp to to your tutor Helen 07946 489 611. We’ll review it and confirm if it’s suitable before you book your place.
If you don’t use WhatsApp, you can also send the photo via email to contact@stevensonandsoames.co.uk, but WhatsApp is preferred for faster communication.
