Description
What you will learn
This is a excellent project for someone with previous experience wanting expand their skills using traditional upholstery techniques.
The wooden frames are in good structural condition but require some restoration to one or two of the joints.
You will remove the old upholstery fabrics and fillings and either restore or paint the frame before reupholstering.
If the colour of the wood work needs changing to suit your home then why not harness your artistic side and paint the frame.
The seats are fixed upholstery (no sewing machine required). These chairs have a sprung seat and some springs may need replacing with new. You will learn how to web the seat and traditionally lash springs before adding new comfortable fillings ready for recovering in your chosen fabric. You could really have some fun with this project. If you wish to buy all four you can create a set of unique chairs to be proud of.
Depending on your skill level, we would estimate one upholstery course to complete one chair and gain all the knowledge required to complete all four. Homework will be necessary to finish all four chairs in one course of lessons. Alternatively we estimate two courses to complete all four chairs in class.
