A Wonderful Piece Awaiting New Life:
Dating from the 1930s, this high chair retains its original character while offering a rewarding challenge for anyone looking to preserve a piece of history. It’s a perfect blend of form, function, and heritage, ready to become a cherished addition to any home or collection.
Condition Report:
- Overall Structure: The wooden frame of the chair is solid and retains its structural integrity. There are visible signs of wear, such as scratches, scuffs, and marks, consistent with its age.
- Conversion Mechanism: The chair’s conversion mechanism, which allows it to change from a high chair to a low play chair, operates smoothly without signs of damage or misalignment.
- Tray Print: The tray features an original print illustrating the evolution of shipping from Early England to 1936. The print shows signs of fading and light discoloration due to age, but the imagery remains largely visible.

This High chair is also excellent project for anyone who is looking for a suitable project to work on during one of our upholstery classes and would like to learn about furniture conservation, restoration and upholstery.
You will be guided through both the restoration and the upholstery. It is fixed upholstery (no sewing machine required).
Depending on your skill level, we would estimate 1 course to complete this project. Homework maybe required in order to complete this project in the timescale of the course.
