Description

Meet Digger Speck, the three-legged sentinel of The Misfits, always ready to spring into action like a loyal Airedale Terrier.

With a striking sycamore top that features a live edge, Digger showcases the raw beauty of natural wood. His unique trio of legs—two turned from the remains of an old church pew and a third cleverly repurposed from the backrest of an antique Queen Anne chair—adds an eclectic charm, giving him a dynamic and eye-catching stance.

Digger’s craftsmanship is rooted in tradition, held together by wedged mortise and tenon joints that speak to his strength and durability.

His surface has been lovingly finished with tung oil, revealing the rich figure of the sycamore, with visible patches of age and texture that tell his story.

Whether serving as a quirky plant stand, a one-of-a-kind side table, or a statement accent piece, Digger Speck stands as a conversation starter.

His natural edges, combined with the contrast of the different wood tones in his legs, make him a true piece of art.

The Misfits’ Backstory: A Gang with History

Digger Speck, like his fellow Misfits, is more than just a piece of furniture—he’s a living relic of history. His legs have already seen decades of life: two were once part of a church pew, and the third came from a Queen Anne chair backrest, each with its own story of gatherings, conversations, and community. Now, these parts have been transformed and joined in the Stevenson and Soames workshop, where fine craftsmanship and a passion for sustainability come together.

As a proud member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen, Stevenson and Soames ensures that every table, including Digger, is built to the highest standards of quality. Each piece carries our stamp of authenticity, a mark that guarantees both expert craftsmanship and the unique legacy of the materials used. Choosing Digger Speck means bringing home a piece of history, thoughtfully reinvented for today’s world, and supporting a future where sustainability and creativity walk hand in hand.

Condition Report

Digger Speck is in excellent condition. His solid sycamore top has been carefully finished with tung oil, enhancing the wood’s natural grain while protecting its surface.

The live edge and textural variations in the wood add to Digger’s unique charm.

His three legs—two salvaged from a church pew and one from a Queen Anne chair backrest—are sturdy and show only minor signs of wear, consistent with their age and reclaimed nature. These subtle imperfections add to Digger’s charm without compromising his stability or functionality.

Digger Speck stands strong and proud, ready to add character and history to your home.
